About

Selina Li Bi was born to immigrant parents from the Philippines. Growing up she always felt like she lived in two different worlds and yearned for a sense of belonging. Now, she writes about characters immersed in a world of reality, fantasy, and mythology.

In another life, she practiced as an optometrist, then decided to go back to school. She received an MFA degree in Creative Writing from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She is also a certified Creativity Coach. Her work has appeared in an anthology, literary journals, and children’s magazines. She is the author of a poetry chapbook, Displaced, and has written several books for the children’s educational market. Sunlight Playing over a Mountain is her debut novel.

She currently lives in North Dakota with her husband, and writes with her two furry companions, Shakespeare and Mandi, always by her side. Her three grown-up kids are now off on their own adventures. Running, yoga, and the ocean breeze brings her joy. She believes that art and stories have the power to connect, inspire, and awaken a sense of belonging in the world.
